What is WordPress?

WordPress is a web publishing software that you can use to create and manage your website or blog.

There are two WordPress web publishing organisations; WordPress.com and WordPress.org. They are both run individually and separately by the co-founders of WordPress.

writethemes is compatible with WordPress.org only. With WordPress.org, the sky really is the limit. The publishing platform itself is free, your website is yours to do as you wish, so you can monetise it and customise it to your needs. WordPress.com doesn’t offer the same flexibility, so it’s more limiting.

You buy a theme template, for example, our Authorpreneur theme, and it’s sent to you in a zipped folder, via a secure link. You can upload it to your WordPress.org website yourself or we can recommend a developer to do it for you.

Why does writethemes develop themes for WordPress.org only?

WordPress powers almost 40% of the world’s websites, including gov.uk, Time, New Yorker and more. Because it’s an open source web publishing platform, it is constantly being updated in line with tech demands and needs. It is also incredibly versatile and easy to use, even for tech-phobe writers.
